Jim Purnell

Managing Director

Jim Purnell is the founder, Managing Director and licensee of DFS Equities. He has a Bachelor of Business and is a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA). He was involved with curriculum development and lecturing with FINSIA. Jim has full accreditation to provide advice and has 28 years experience in retail and institutional broking with a strong research background. He has worked as an advisor and research analyst at Bridges Financial services, James Capel Australia, Jardine Fleming and was a director of Capel, Court and Powell prior to establishing DFS Equities in 2000.

Myles Byrne

Research Analyst

Myles Byrne is a research analyst with DFS Equities. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Dublin, Ireland), Diploma in Education (Melbourne University), Graduate Diploma in Marketing (Monash University Melbourne) and Diploma of Business (Real Estate) TAFE North Sydney.
Myles has an extensive work history, which includes his early professional years as an industrial chemist and secondary school teacher. He worked with Dow Chemicals for 20 years in various business management and marketing roles and had postings to Australia, Hong Kong and the USA. He also held the position of Pacific Area Chief Executive in Hong Kong for Morton Electronic Materials. From 1993 till now he has been working as a Business Consultant for the plastics, chemicals and pest control industry and more recently as a stock/share analyst.

Doug Richardson

Research Analyst & Client Advisor

Doug is a research analyst and client advisor with DFS Equities. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics and Finance, a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment with the Securities Institute of Australia and is RG146 Accredited to provide advisory and dealing services to clients.  Doug has over 14 years experience in the financial services industry, including research and investment analyst roles at AM Corporation, GIO Asset Management and Suncorp Wealth Management.  He also owned and operated a mortgage broking business for 7 years servicing client portfolios. 

Warren Lewis

Client Advisor

Warren is a client advisor at DFS Equities. He has a Bachelor of Finance and is a senior member of the International Banking and Finance Corporation. He has completed the RG146 in Securities. He is also an Accredited Derivatives Advisor for Levels 1 and 2. Warren has six years experience in the financial services industry, including time spent in funds management, online broking and full service broking. He has occupied both trading and advisory roles during this time.

Elizabeth Svoboda

Administration and Compliance Manager

Elizabeth holds the position of Administration and Compliance Manager at DFS Equities. She has a Bachelor of Applied Science, a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting and a Post Graduate Diploma in Corporate Governance. Elizabeth has significant experience in public health and occupied both a clinical (Speech Pathology) and executive administrative role within a large public teaching hospital. She also spent some years as practice manager for a medium sized public practice accounting firm and was CEO for a small start up biotechnology company focusing on drug development.

Debbie Gallagher

Accounting and Finance

Debbie Gallagher manages Accounting and Finance at DFS Equities. She has a Bachelor of Economics and is a member of the Institute Chartered Accounts. Debbie has an extensive background in Accounting and Tax and has worked for such companies as KPMG and Kendalls.

Client Services

Elen is responsible for administration and client services. She is an industrial chemist with qualifications obtained in the Czech Republic. She has been with DFS Equities for 8 years and has completed a business course and is currently studying accounting.

Elizabeth Paton

Dealers Assistant

Elizabeth is a Dealers Assistant at DFS Equities. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Business majoring in Finance and International Business at the University of Technology Sydney. Elizabeth has 4 years administration experience including 2 years working in a Financial Planning and Mortgage Broking office.

Christian Papandreas

Dealers Assistant

Christian is a Dealers Assistant at DFS Equities. He is currently completing his Bachelor of Business majoring in Marketing at the Australian Catholic University. Christian has work experience in the retail sector as a Salesperson for Harvey Norman.
